I have always enjoyed taking pictures and love to look back at the memories captured to remember the experiences I have had. While I am nowhere near an expert on either topic, I did some basic research on the functionality of a camera and the human eyeball, for comparison purposes. I have landed on the following equation:
LIGHT + FOCUS + CAPTURE = REMEMBER.
The Camera Aperture and The Eyeball's Iris ~ CREATED to determine the amount of LIGHT that enters
FOCUS
The Camera Lens and The Eyeball's Lens ~ CREATED to change shape to adjust the FOCUS, to see objects at different distances, while working to FOCUS LIGHT onto a surface
CAPTURE
The Camera Film and The Eyeball's Retina ~ CREATED to be LIGHT-sensitive and CAPTURE the image
When taking pictures, I strive to get good ones that I can look back on and remember. Sometimes I can take many pictures to get that one. For example, I can take 5 pictures and 4 of them end up okay, but not great, or they turn out terrible, maybe even with my thumb in the way, but then there is THAT ONE that made such an impact.... that taking 5 pictures (or more) was completely worth it. And if I am choosing photos to go in a photo album, or put in a scrapbook or something, I will keep that ONE with a big impact so I can remember that moment, and I will get rid of the rest, eventually forgetting the 4 or more that didn't measure up.
The reason why I take pictures is so that I can look back and REMEMBER the impactful moments. Imagine having a camera, turning the camera lens to change the focus, and pushing the button to try and capture impactful memories.... all with the lens cap on? All this would be a waste if no light could enter. The solution to the equation is:
REMEMBER
The Camera Lens and The Pupil ~ CREATED to allow light to enter.
It is vital to remove the lens cap and open our eyelids, allowing the light to enter. That way, we can see the LIGHT and be able to FOCUS on the wonderful things God has done, CAPTURING those impactful moments to REMEMBER.
LIGHT + FOCUS + CAPTURE = REMEMBER
