My girls and I share a passion for music. One of our favorite things to do in the car is turn on the radio and sing praises to God, not holding back any joy.
My daughter's joy was so contagious that my youngest and I joined in singing with her.... This is a great example of when we live our lives focused on God, Jesus' light can shine through us, and then we become a light in the world, which can encourage others to let their light shine as well.
The other day, we went on a field trip far enough away that I had to change the radio station so we could listen to My Bridge Radio. The next day, when we got in the car, one of our favorite songs came on, and we got all excited and started singing with overflowing joy.
Unfortunately, as I started driving, static started to overtake the song. So, I switched through the stations to see if the song would come in clearer on another station. For some reason, the station that it is usually on.... didn't work, so I went through all of the options and landed back to the one we started on, where it was now mostly static. I said, "Oh, bummer, I'm sorry, girls, I can't find that song on a clearer station," and the way my oldest daughter responded was incredible. She said, "It's okay, Mamma. I still want to listen to it, I can still sing along, and I will just ignore the fuzzy noise." I looked back at her, and she had the biggest grin on her face, and she started singing with ALL her heart.
Side note: I will now be saying fuzzy noise instead of static because it is just too cute and it makes sense.
In this moment, she was a living example of what it looks like to truly live out childlike faith. With the importance of focusing on beautiful things in life and blocking out the fuzzy noises that come along, distracting us.
I will say at first.... I got distracted by the fuzzy noise, and I became disappointed when I couldn't find a station with that song on that was clear to hear. But seeing her joy in continuing to sing the song anyway was SOO impactful. So, I joined in, and not too long after that, I stopped noticing the fuzzy noise as much. There were times that the only thing we could hear on the radio was the fuzzy noise, but I was still able to hear the song.... because my daughter was still singing it. In fact, when the distracting fuzzy noise was the only thing on the radio, my daughter confidently sang EVEN LOUDER.
Now, looking back on that memory, it is very clear that the way we live our lives is incredibly important and can have a huge impact on other people.
My daughter's willingness to ignore the fuzzy noise was because she enjoys the song, which is an example of how we should ignore distractions of the world and live in the full joy of our God.
My daughter knew that song so well that even when the only thing on the radio was fuzzy noise, she was able to continue singing confidently because she knew it in her heart... this is an example that when distractions and situations become so loud that it is all you can hear, it is important to keep singing the song...it keeps going even if we cannot hear it at the moment.
Sing the praises to God through everything because He is faithful and we can have hope in Him.
My daughter's joy was so contagious that my youngest and I joined in singing with her.... This is a great example of when we live our lives focused on God, Jesus' light can shine through us, and then we become a light in the world, which can encourage others to let their light shine as well.
